2011

In the life of any event there are three phases each with a visibly public and a necessarily private side to them. For me, those phases are:

PHASE 1 - which visibly is a whisper campaign but privately is the preliminary planning stage.

PHASE 2 – this is the launch of the event where publically it is discussed, promotional material becomes available and the campaign pack goes live (usually in that order). Behind the scenes it is the point that an event becomes tangible to the public and so there is a degree of commitment and obligation involved.

PHASE 3 – Is the week of the launch of the event itself. Behind the scenes it is the most intensive period of activity. Regardless of the intent of the previous two stages, it is phase three that determines whether you delivered the promise of the event and ultimately whether or not the event as a whole is successful.

With the Wrath of Nagash moving towards Phase Three, Siege of Terra now mid-way into Phase Two and the Scouring entering Phase One, I cast my eye to the horizon and begin to paint broad brushstrokes to outline what shape 2011 will take.

Actually a few people have already brought May and September 2011 into Phase One already by whispering about it. May is correctly titled as AoA: TNTI and September is AoA: TRoB. More to be revealed later...

2011 is a special year for the Fugitives. It will be five years of event running and by the end of 2011 we will have presented fifteen different events.

Wrath of Nagash - House Rules

Looking at some of the more basic rules of Warhammer, and with ever my eye to the horizon, I will be implementing the following House rules at the weekend (to be officially announced in the registration newsletter).

Dispell Scrolls: These scrolls may be used once per game and provide the player with +2 dispell dice. They do not provide an automatic dispell.

Templates: All flame templates hit every model they touch (no partials).

Siege of Terra - Special Boards Pt 3

Spaceport

The idea for this board was that the long table edges were where cargo ships would dock and offload their cargo. I like the idea that Imperial forces would try and retake the Spaceport via any access they have. See attached image for layout.

The general layout of the board will be industrial cargo containers of different sizes. This will allow for blocking of line of sight and creating multi level fighting. A central crane will also give an objective as high ground to capture. Another objective will be the docking command bunker which also be a high ground objective and also could be linked to the main doors at the opposite end of the table. The large cargo doors will be another main feature as this would be another objective for the forces to capture to allow access into the rest of the spaceport.

Siege of Terra - Special Boards pt 2

Caliban

The idea pitched for this board is that the planet is going through deforestation and construction of more imperial cities. The forests which once covered the planet are being removed as a more and more imperial influence is forced on the planet. The graduation of the table from forest to industrial I think will look really good with Dark Angels storming across the field. The Fortress of Redemption can be an objective for each force to capture. This can be more central than many of the other buildings across the board. Game objective could be whoever captures the fortress will be able to call in for extraction from the planet before it is too late.

The next feature is the breaking up of the planet itself, across the table the surface will have cracks through down to lava which represents the destruction of the world. A certain number of sections can be removed during the game to represent the mantle sinking into the lava of the planet.

Siege of Terra - Special Boards pt 1

As we start to head into prep for Siege of Terra, I thought I'd give a sneak peek of some of the new scenery we're working on.

Tank Factory

This board is just how it sounds, the forces are trying to capture this facility to aid in the war effort. With tanks still rolling off the assembly line as the battle rages this battle could swing the war in either way.

Description:

  • This board will be a very close fire fight, as the conveyor belts will block a lot of line of sights apart from the broken pieces dotted about.
  • Large machines/buildings/STC? which the tanks go through can be the objectives of the mission.
  • The control tower can also be an objective for the mission as well.
  • Roughly 3 tanks and 4 C.O.D. buildings
  • The control tower will be built from a bastion.

Age of the Emperor: The Siege of Terra

15th & 16th MAY 2010

The story continues

The story began in May 2009 with our Age of the Emperor: The Great Crusade campaign weekend and continued last September with the Age of the Emperor: The Horus Heresy. Now our tale continues as Horus brings his heresy to the Emperor’s palace on Terra. This campaign features the Armies of the Emperor locked in a brutal endgame with the Armies of the Warmaster. The danger to the Imperium is increased by the rampaging armies of the Orks and the lightning strikes of the Eldar.

This event has now completely sold out and we are at maximum hall capacity for Warhammer World. On the day players will be able to pick up a full colour printed version of the campaign packs when you hand in a copy of your armylist during registration.

Tickets for Age of the Emperor: The Scouring Campaign Weekend will be on sale on the Friday and Saturday night and are limited to one per person.

If you have any Forgeworld purchases you’d like to make – please give the guys at Forgeworld a call to ensure it is available over the weekend for collection. You can also call the Warhammer World store to reserve any products you think you’ll need over the weekend.

Regards
